You've gotta learn to say, forget the world, and hang onto the people that you care about the most.

This is the fifth and final day of endgame in Project Daisychain

During Day Five...

Two United States Navy carriers and three cruisers have arrived in the fake Manhattan, and come in to a scene of complete chaos and destruction. The Hudson River is stuffed full of sunk battleships and downed jets. The city of Manhattan is in shambles, stormed by the three monsters and any other attacks from Tagruato. And in the center of it all are the three Aircraft Carriers Tagruato used, barely floating after the fighting they've sustained. Even Ganu Yoshida himself has arrived by private helicopter, and is currently on board the Ultimatum to negotiate surrender with Special Section CFP-TCI.

Your characters have won. Tagruato has exhausted their resources in attempting to fight back and control the Manhattan population, and can no longer attempt to hold you here. They have relinquished control of this Manhattan dimension to Special Section CFP-TCI. Look out for a couple of announcements over all communication channels: one from Ganu Yoshida himself, and one from Special Section CFP-TCI. The latter will explain some important details on what your characters need to do to go home.

There's just one more thing your characters need to do before they gather to go home: what to do with the three monsters. Tagruato will not be permitted to keep them, and the United States military refuses to transfer them to their home dimension unless they are dead beforehand. Your characters have two choices: they can leave the monsters in this dimension, where they will no longer be under the corporation's control, and be left alone for the remainder of their lives. Or, your uberpowered characters can kill all three of them and turn them over to CFP-TCI, where they will likely undergo study. Either way, there will be a volunteer post up for 15 characters (preferably those able to kill a giant monster at full power) that will deal with the monsters. Please only volunteer for this thread if you have a character that is capable of taking out the monsters, and is also willing to take some direction. Any characters that want to witness the death of the monsters or have final thoughts on them will be welcome to do so in a separate subthread. Mediums or characters with other spiritual power will be needed to release the trapped souls in the monsters.

The final thread for Project Daisychain will involve your characters' journey home, and the choices they make regarding it. This log will be posted following the announcements from CFP-TCI and an OOC post, which will contain more details and explanations. Look out for it later!

This is the ultimate showdown, of ultimate destiny
Good guys, bad guys and explosions, as far as the eye can see
And only one will survive, I wonder who it will be?
This is the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny!

This is the fourth day of endgame in Project Daisychain

During Day Four...

Characters have taken control of the bridge of the Threshold and the Pinnacle, the virus is healed on everyone, and most everyone's special powers are restored. Because of this, Tagruato has given up on being able to salvage anything remotely worthwhile from their project. So they're pulling the only thing they can think to do at this point: self-destruct.

That's right, they figure that having essentially lost, at least they can erase all the evidence of their doing in Manhattan. The ships themselves are getting destroyed. The captain of the Ultimatum calls in the cavalry: a massive army of battle ships, cruisers, and fighter jets to ultimately sink the three aircraft carriers...and everyone on board them. This cavalry consists of 5 fleets of 10 battleships and 40 battle cruisers each, and a force of 50 fighter jets. They all come in from the south part of the river, heading straight for the three carriers. They know that with the ships sunk and the controls lost, the monsters will be set loose on the city with no restraint and destroy any remaining evidence.

Obviously, it's up to your characters to stop this massive self-destruct plan before the carriers are destroyed and all your characters drown! Anyone with massive amounts of power will be needed to tackle this veritable army.

What's more, Tagruato have taken down the anti-teleportation fields so that they can use the DRT as necessary...mostly trying to save their own asses by using it to get off the carriers before they're destroyed. This means that teleportation is available once again. Characters are going to need to do make their final move and take control of the DRT. To do so, they will gather on the Ultimatum either by teleporter or by a taxi service character (this can easily be handwaved if necessary), then all storm into the DRT room to try and subdue every Tagruato member inside and control the computer. You can see a picture of the DRT here. The entire area is huge and very well guarded by guards in gas masks, with shields, suppressant bombs and guns. Close to the computer, the ship captains are also attempting to make their escape. Subdue the guards and put the smartest characters in control of the computer.

And inside the carriers themselves, there is still something important to do...in particular, something important for the characters that have no supernatural powers. On the upper deck of each ship there's a communications center that Tagruato has been using to send messages to the cavalry that they're calling in. These communication centers have a new safeguard installed in all the doorways: a variation on the teleshield that automatically bounces back anyone with any kind of supernatural ability. However, completely non-powered characters (including Tagruato personnel) are capable of walking through it. These barriers can't be disarmed, but characters with no supernatural abilities are capable of moving through them, so they are the ones that can infiltrate these areas!

And doing so will be essential...CIA Special Section CFP-TCI is attempting a final infiltration of Manhattan. However, their technology is still not at Tagruato's level. Knowing that something big is going down, they're attempting once again to communicate with Tagruato's Manhattan. Get into the communication centers, and you'll have the chance to talk to CFP-TCI directly and help them get into Manhattan. Each center is guarded by the same guards they've been facing before. Have your defenders and escorts move in first, taking out Tagruato along the way, then when the guards are out, non-powered characters can enter the area and begin using the computers there. When those threads start, the mods will participate as CFP-TCI personnel.

To help with organization and setup for this day, we've assigned characters to various tasks according to their power ability or what they can do. Uberpowered characters will fight off Tagruato's Cavalry, powerful characters will take control of the DRT, moderately powerful characters or fighters will escort non-powered characters to the communication centers and fight off the guards there, and non-powered characters will use communications to talk to CFP-TCI! You also have the option to opt out or move your characters to another task if you don't want them in the assignment they've been given.

The Tagruato Calvary Fighters will get a completely separate log. The DRT Control Team will be a separate subthread on the Ultimatum only. The Defenders and Escorts Teams, Communications Teams and Safe Zone/Remote Support Teams are on each ship. If you have a character in one of those teams, have them in that assignment with whatever ship they are currently on.

Character assignments are under the cut )

Victory is within reach, Manhattanites! Survive today, and your characters will finally defeat Tagruato for good!

9/14/09 08:59 pm

Are you ready for combat!
(The roof is on fire)
No one is safe!

This is the third day of endgame in Project Daisychain

During Day Three...

It's war on the three aircraft carriers!

Characters have made a series of bold moves against Tagruato: stealing tons of the power suppressant antidote and distributing it amongst people on all three ships. As of this point, all of the Healers are cured, and most characters on the three ships also have their powers back at full. The tide has turned against Tagruato!

And are they ever aware of it. Tagruato have completely given up on trying to get most of your characters into monsters...now, they're fighting for their lives and for their stake in Manhattan. They figure that they can salvage enough of the non-powered characters (particularly NPCs) for their purposes after the rest are taken care of.

That's right...in day three, discovering that they are unable to use the DRT on any character that has taken the suppressant antidote, Tagruato moves in with intent to destroy their escaped prisoners. On each ship's bridge, the scientists set up a special tower that prevents teleporting. No one on any ship can teleport, except for perhaps very short distances (across a hall), and even then this causes massive headaches for the teleportation user. These anti-teleportation fields affect the DRT too, preventing it from being used. Someone would have to destroy or disarm these towers on the bridges of their respective ships in order for characters to be able to teleport again.

But it gets worse. Hordes of guards in riot gear and gas masks take down the teleshields long enough for them to move in and begin pressing towards the safe zones on each ship. They start out by throwing suppressant bombs to knock out powers, and when the smoke clears, charging forward with guns ready. No tranq darts this time...they're all shooting to kill. If they reach the safe zones, there'll be a massacre. If your character has received the suppressant antidote, the suppressant bombs will knock their power down to Manhattan-level powers instead of knocking them out completely…in other words, a severe reduction, but still usable at a basic level. This is only if your character has received the antidote and is operating at full power now...if they haven't, suppressant bombs knock out their powers completely.

This is the time for your characters to really seize control of the ships, before Tagruato can finish their move and kill people. Characters must discover a way to fortify the safe zones so that people can be protected. Those able to fight must find a way around the suppressant bombs, put their bulletproof characters in front to shield the rest, and from there fight their way through Tagruato's soldiers. Those most powerful should shoot for gaining control of the bridges (all of which will be well-guarded), the DRT and the monster control computer.

Unknown to your characters, someone else is now working to get into this Manhattan dimension, too...

As before, planning posts will be put up so that characters can plan out their strategy, both for defense and offense. The logs for day three will be posted soon as well.

9/7/09 08:58 pm

This is our time, without a doubt
Time to ignite
We're not going down...without a fight!

This is the second day of endgame in Project Daisychain

During Day Two...

BREAKOUT! Your characters can't be contained for long, and most everyone has broken out of their cells and dispatched a lot of the guards. A team managed to snag weapons from the weapons storage on the Ultimatum, so a few people on the Ultimatum and the Threshold have their weapons back. In addition, all of the characters on the Ultimatum have been healed, thanks to Larsa's use of Kida's crystal. The Healers have been freed from their cell, and are working as hard as they can to heal the crab virus with the limited amount of power they have. They do, however, need to be sent to the Pinnacle and Ultimatum.

Unfortunately, Tagruato is more than aware of all of this...their plans are not going nearly as well as they'd like.

They've still got some advantages. The scientists are aware that your characters have spent a lot of energy escaping, and know they'll start running out of steam. Characters that did not receive Luis's vaccine will find themselves a lot weaker today as the virus starts to kick in hard. Tagruato still have control of all three ships, and battling them will only get tougher from here on out.

The captains have ordered the bridges and secret areas of each ship to be sealed off and guarded with special precautions. The hallways to the upper decks AND the secret areas are guarded with special tech called teleshields: small, portable versions of the magical teleporting barrier that surrounds all of Manhattan. No magic or physical attacks will get through these teleshields, although unlike the barrier around all of Manhattan, they do not extend across an entire deck...just the hallways where they've been set up. If your character tries to run through these, they'll be bounced back about five feet. They can be disarmed, but the device creating these barriers is always on the side Tagruato controls. Even worse, because these barriers are invisible, your characters won't even know they're there until they run into one.

And beyond these teleshields? Expect to find guards in full riot gear, complete with steel shields and full-face helmets. They're using not only tranq guns, tasers and normal guns, but also a new weapon developed especially for your characters: suppressant bombs. These nasty devices act like smoke bomb versions of the power suppressant: one whiff, and your characters' special abilities will be completely knocked out for five to six hours (one day in real time)...on top of temporarily blinding them. They'll use those on your characters without hesitation if they figure out a way past the teleshields, knowing that they only have to exhaust your energy long enough for the virus to do the rest of the work. They're aware that some characters can teleport, and their scientists are already working out a way to counter this by day three.

So what can your characters do now? The next step is for your characters to establish themselves a stronghold on board each of the ships...a place where those that are injured or cannot fight can be protected, while those still able to fight can push forward in search of the secret areas. Particularly the power suppressant antidote, since giving that to the Healers will allow them to begin healing your characters en masse. It's also a good idea to grab some of the still-living guards and begin pressing them for information. There's no time to waste!

New threads will be set up for each ship for day two, and with these there will be three subthreads each: one for the cell deck for any characters still there, one for the "safe place" stronghold characters establish, and one for the upper deck where the telebarriers have been set up. New subthreads will be added for new events or locations as needed.

They’re locking up the sun, the light of reason’s gone
And hope has been successfully undone
The question’s burning on, where is it coming from
No one seems to know the monster born

This is the first day of endgame in Project Daisychain

During Day 1...

Your characters will wake up to a cold, gray, metallic room. The cell has no windows, but has the ship’s identification number and room number printed on the wall, and a single door of steel several inches thick. There are also four cots and a single toilet in each room. Regardless of characters’ species or size, they’ve all been split into groups of four (with some exceptions) and assigned a cell. Remember to check the endgame setup post for where your characters’ cells are and who your cellmates are.

Every character will wake up feeling disoriented and a little weak. They have all been injected with a sample of the artificial crab venom, or DSN-A051, and will begin to feel effects of the virus by the end of the day. They’ll notice an obvious injection point on their arms (or front legs for four-legged characters), and that area will be sore.

There are a few exceptions: all of the Healers have been placed in a separate cell on board the Threshold. Tagruato took some extra precautions with them, and they are bound and sedated on top of being locked up. Unless someone comes to rescue them, they will wake up a day later than every other character, and their hands and feet are tied. Oversized characters that won’t fit in cells, in this case dinosaurs and dragons, have been placed in a storage pit on board the Pinnacle. The pit has a thick steel grate over the cover and is also locked.

There are no computers in the cells, so there is no way for first-person communication at this point. All interactions will have to be in third-person logs unless a new method can be worked out. Characters with radios or weapons that they obtained while in Manhattan have had those taken away: no guns, knives or pipes are in anyone’s possession. The walls of the cells are pretty thick: you might be able to hear someone in the next cell thumping on the wall or shouting, but any actual words are going to be not that audible.

There are guards stationed at the end of every cell block: two at each end and one in the middle. They are armed with tranq guns, tasers and normal guns. If they see anyone trying to escape the cells, they’ll try to tranq them and throw them back in.

There is hope, however. Your characters haven’t been given a new dose of power suppressant, so characters with special powers still have them intact, even if they’re feeling rather weak. Special powers are the same as they are in Manhattan: severely reduced, but still there. Your characters have these options for escaping the cells:

- Characters capable of teleporting will be able to teleport outside their cell.
- Characters capable of moving through solid objects can phase through the walls or door.
- Characters with supernatural strength can bust down the door.
- Characters with powerful magic can melt the lock or force it open.
- Characters capable of mind control (without any physical contact or eye contact) can coerce a guard to coming and opening their cell.
- Characters with mechanical genius can create a lockpicker or device to open the door, but only by using objects already in the cell or on their person.
- Small characters (cats, dogs, mice or very young children) will be able to squeeze through an air vent that will lead them to halls outside of their cells. No one larger than Fletcher Tringham will be able to fit through these vents.

Your first priority is to escape your cells (without getting noticed by the guards and recaptured or shot), and then find and revive the Healers so that they can begin healing the virus!

Project Daisychain Endgame Rules

Because endgame vastly changes the scenario of Daisychain, we will be using some new rules and guidelines to help make playing easier for all. Please be sure to read all of these rules and guidelines carefully! Even though you won’t have journals available, overall your characters should have more freedom during endgame!

Guidelines )

Rules )

If you have any questions or ideas regarding the endgame, don't hesitate to contact the mods about it. And most importantly: HAVE FUN!

9/3/09 08:57 pm

Project Daisychain Endgame Setup

The curtain is down, and the full plot behind everything that has happened in Manhattan has been revealed. There is no turning back.

Your characters have lost another day; no one has any memory of the previous day ever occurring. Not that it matters, as your characters don't wake up in their own beds. In fact, they don't even wake up on Manhattan Island.

The Tagruato Corporation has decided they cannot afford to let anyone else run free and have stepped in for their final move: in that missing day, every character has been taken prisoner.

Your characters have been randomly divided into groups of four and assigned a cell room on board one of the three aircraft carriers in use by the Tagruato Corporation: the U.S.S. Threshold (CV-102), the U.S.S. Pinnacle (CV-108), and the U.S.S. Ultimatum (CV-109). Check the cut below to see which ships and which cell rooms your characters have been assigned to.

Ship Assignments )

On top of being locked up, every single character has been injected with a sample of the advanced crab virus, or DSN-A051. Within one day, every character will begin to feel the effects of the virus. Within six days they’ll be bedridden and coughing up blood, and within ten days they’ll be in a coma. The only exceptions to this will be characters that have received Luis’s vaccine...this will help stave off symptoms for about three more days. However, three days later they’ll start suffering the same effects as everyone else. The Tagruato Corporation is expecting to imprison every character until the disease runs its course, when they will then be transported to a location where they can safely transform into the corporation's new weapons.

The clock is ticking. Your characters have limited time to escape, find the Healers and fight back against their captors before they are too sick to take action. While the situation seems hopeless, your characters are not completely without options. In their haste to secure all their prisoners and keep them all in such a limited space, it's likely the Tagruato Corporation has overlooked something.

What's more, located on board every aircraft carrier is a unique room or area that may assist your characters...not only in defeating the corporation, but also in returning them to their own universes. If your characters can manage to gain access to any one of these three locations, they can turn the tide against their captors. If they can gain access to all three, victory is certain. Check below the cut to find out what these mystery locations are.

Secret Locations )

Escape and triumph will be anything but simple. The time for personal vendettas and old rivalries is past...your characters must all unite against a common enemy, or they will all perish.

There's no time to waste, Manhattanites. Suffer a long and agonizing death...or strike back!

::daisychain week forty-two::

Climb down three flights to the streetlights
and the bar-fights, we're just taking in the sights.
I hope tomorrow that I wake up in my own bed.
Hello city, you've found an enemy in me.

- Barenaked Ladies

This is the first week of May, 2009.

During Week 42…

Strangely enough, the city remains in the same lull that it suffered from last week. Both the monsters and the crabs seem to have gone into hiding – the monsters aren’t around at all, and the crabs are rarely if ever seen. No new graffiti appears, the weather stays balmy and warm, nobody is bitten, and nobody disappears…in fact, if the air raid sirens didn’t continue to sound at noon and midnight every day like clockwork, the city would be rather peaceful. One has to wonder just how long this will last.

OOC Notes:

This is one final reminder to finish up any plots you have going, guys!

Raise a glass to ignorance, and drink a toast to fear

- Jars of Clay

This is the fourth week of April, 2009

During Week 41...

The truth is out for just who is behind this monstrous Manhattan. While news hasn’t spread to everyone yet, it’s fast getting there: a corporation set on creating an army of monsters, and killing anyone who gets in their way. So what do they do about it?

So far, it seems...nothing. In fact, it’s scarily quiet. All three of the Cloverfield monsters are nowhere to be found all week. While the crabs are still scuttling about, there’s less of them visible, and no one is bitten. No one disappears, even the Healers. The weather is springtime-gorgeous and clear all week as April ends.

It would all be very relaxing if not for the sirens. For reasons unknown, Manhattan’s air raid sirens start going off. They start at midnight on Sunday, blaring for five straight minutes before shutting off again. From then on, the sirens return every twelve hours on the hour, screaming nonexistent air raids for five minutes before shutting off again.

Graffiti

For the first time in months, mysterious graffiti appears across the city, all throughout the week:

The phrase
NORIKO YOSHIDA IS DEAD
NORIKO YOSHIDA IS NOT DEAD is sprayed across every available wall surrounding Central Park.

The word DAISYCHAIN is painted everywhere on walls and sidewalks around prominent locations, including Bryant Park Hotel, Library Hotel, Strand 2.0, the Cathedral, and Madison Square Garden.

OOC Announcements:

The mods would like to offer a brief announcement: if you have a lengthy or character-specific plot that you’ve been meaning to wrap up, we suggest that you do so ASAP this week! Remember that you can always backdate or future-date logs if necessary.

Manhattan...capital of the 20th century, a city that has fascinated me for more than three decades.
- Jurgen Jabermas

This is the third week of April, 2009

During Week 40...

Forty weeks have passed in the city that never sleeps, and it seems that this week there definitely is something not sleeping.

The monsters are not bothering to hide at all. They’re visible and audible almost every day this week, never coming on shore but faithfully patrolling all shores of the island. All three are there, including the second monster, which is still missing part of its jaw and teeth but is no longer behaving strangely. This is a very obvious (and somewhat unsettling) show of force. But why there is such a big show of force is yet to be seen...

There’s absolutely no rest from the persistence of the enhanced crabs, and six more bite victims are added to the ranks this week: Malcolm Reynolds, Yellow, Agent Derek, Excella Dionne, Rosiel and James T. Kirk help keep the Healers on their toes. Be sure to check the FAQ or ask a mod if you have any questions about crab bites.

Manhattan starts to get its first bout of real heat, as there’s not a cloud in the sky all week. With spring in full force and no one around to prune any overgrowth, the entire island is bursting with new foliage.

::character death list::

Please use the form below if you would like to kill off one of your characters from Project Daisychain, with regards to the new rules as of 7/12/09.

Remember the following guidelines:

1. Character death is absolutely, 100% permanent. Killing off your character will effectively drop them from the game. There will be no exceptions for this rule.

2. You are free to kill off your character by crab attack, by the hazards of the city, or by other player characters. If your idea for a manner of death seems to stretch any boundaries set up by the game (breaking power levels, involving a large number of other characters, etc), please talk to the mods about it beforehand so we can work something out with you.

3. All three of the Cloverfield monsters are in exclusive control of the mods. You may not utilize the monsters to kill your character unless you have cleared it with the mods first, and even then we will decide on a case-by-case basis.

If you have any questions or would like to speak to the mods, they can be reached at the mod contact list on this journal, or at the mod email at daisychainmods@gmail.com.

This is the second week of April, 2009

During Week 39...

Manhattan is still working to recover from all of the excitement last week...between the discovery of the barrier around the island, the crash of the mysterious helicopter, clashing with Manhattan natives, and the appearance and fight with a demonic Hamel, there's lots of tension in the air.

It seems to be making the monsters tense, too. On Tuesday and Thursday of this week, Manhattanites will be able to see Big Mommy and Basil (the third monster) making rounds around the perimeter of the island. They stick mostly to the water, not venturing up onto land. While citizens will be able to see and hear them from a distance, there are no major injuries.

The second monster, whose mouth was exploded and damaged last week, is not seen at all...no telling where he's hiding this week.

The enhanced crabs, however, are not at all shy about busting in on people's fun and ruining someone's day. Four more people are bitten this week: Heather Mason, Jack O'Neill, Squall "Leon" Leonhart and Kida are all bitten this week. Be sure to check the monster FAQ or contact the mods with any questions. Also, please don't forget that if your character is bitten now, their symptoms are greatly accelerated...they will fall into a coma if they are not healed within ten days of being bitten. Don't hesitate to have them seek help!

As they say, April showers bring May flowers. There's some light showers very early in the week, washing away a lot of the wreckage and grit from last week's encounters. The rest of the week is sunny and mild.

New York – that unnatural city where everyone is an exile, none more so than the American.
- Charlotte Perkins Gilman

This is the first week of April, 2009

During Week 38...

On the last day of March, the crew attempting to cross the Husdon River ran into some rather unexpected results, much to the detriment of their escape plans.

Meanwhile, Zero’s team sent out an explosive decoy, which was caught by the second monster, Herbie. The monster received a terrible injury from biting into the decoy as it detonated: it lost several large teeth and a good chunk of its lower jaw. Worst of all, the monster’s behavior got a little...bizarre. First it went roaring and smashing on shore, destroying the U.N. building and several other prominent buildings along the eastern coast. Then it turned right around, swam across to Roosevelt Island and started smashing everything there. It suddenly stopped in the middle of this rampage, stomped to the edge of Roosevelt Island and then began to move around in a tight circle. It did this for about five minutes, stopped to roar and twitch violently (which, considering it’s a giant monster, looks bizarre enough), then jumped into the river and began swimming in very tight circles. It kept swimming in circles nonstop for ten minutes before finally diving beneath the surface, and wasn't seen again.

During this, Cloverfield set upon the other decoys sent out by the river backup teams and destroyed them completely, but didn’t go stomping or trying to fight Herbie.

Most people manage to get away in time, but a few are injured in the second monster’s attack. Haruka, Inoue Orihime, Kurosaki Ichigo, Leon Kennedy and Seymour Guado all receive serious injuries. Everyone else can hear and see the attack from a distance.

Muns of injured characters, check below the cut )

The supercrabs are also still on the move, forcing their way in any way they can and attacking anyone unlucky enough to cross their path or unable to fend them off. Three more people are bitten this week: Evangeline, Agent Starr and Michiru Kaioh are all bitten. If you have any questions about your character either receiving a monster-related injury or a bite, please contact the mods.

The weather remains sunny and mild for this start of April. At best, there’s overcast mornings, with all the clouds burning off by midday.

People in London think of London as the center of the world, whereas New Yorkers think the world ends three miles outside of Manhattan.

This is the fourth week of March, 2009

During Week 37...

Just when you thought the streets of Manhattan might be safe to walk, the monsters rear their ugly heads again. The parasite crabs start to prowl the streets again, and while there’s not nearly as many of them as before, there’s something decidedly...different about them.

Citizens will notice that the parasites showing up now are much bigger, faster, and occasionally more twisted-looking than ever before. They jump farther, and it takes a lot more hits to bring them down than it did previously: a crab that might have gone down in five hits with a steel pipe now can take ten before dropping. These buggers are more persistent than ever...they’re much bolder, not shying away from broad daylight, and even start breaking into people’s homes to attack them. Worst of all, something has changed about their bite...serious symptoms such as difficulty breathing and coughing up blood set in after only a few days. If bitten characters don’t get healed within ten days after getting their bite, they’ll slip into a coma and not wake up from it until they do get healed.

And it seems these nasty crab upgrades are making up for their absence last week. A total of seven people are bitten this week: Cooro, Ed Elric, Euphemia li Britannia, Kuwabara, Odd Thomas, Roy Mustang and Agent J are all bitten. Check the Monster FAQ or talk to the mods if you have any questions about crab bites.

There’s some light showers late in the week, but otherwise March is going out like a lamb.

OOC Announcements

We have an important announcement to make: this upcoming app period (starting on June 28th) will be the final app period for Daisychain. After the next app period is over, no new characters will be admitted into the game. This is primarily for IC-specific reasons that will become apparent in July. We’re announcing this now to let you guys know way in advance, and to give you the time to decide who you want to app. This will be your last chance to get in a new character, so whether it’s your first or your seventh, think carefully about who you want to app and start writing for them!

In conjunction with apps closing, after the last app period, we will be allowing character death. We ask that you please let the mods know if you plan to kill your character, but otherwise, the unofficial “no-kill” rule will be lifted and you can kill your own character if you really want to. If you’re thinking of doing so, please remember that character death is permanent, and you cannot re-app or reset your character if you kill them. Of course, please remember that you may not kill another player’s character without that player’s consent.

New York has always been going to hell, but somehow it never gets there.

This is the third week of March, 2009

During Week 36...

There's something rotten underground this week. Early in the week, citizens might notice a strange smoke issuing from the subway entrances. It smells acrid, but don't venture too close...anyone getting too close to any subway entrances will start to feel dizzy, nauseous and will likely wind up sick for several days. Anyone foolish enough to try going underground will pass out before they reach the bottom of the steps.

Strangely, the parasite crabs are all but absent this week. Manhattanites will be hard-pressed to spot even one. As a result, there are no bites and very few scuffles this week. The monsters are also remaining quiet...characters might catch a glimpse of one in the water, but no sightings above ground.

The weather is mild and sunny for most of the week. It's finally starting to warm up a little.

Midweek Announcements

The monsters are still keeping quiet this week. However, on Wednesday morning, any insomniac Manhattanites that happen to be awake at 5:30 in the morning just might happen to see and hear something. It is probably the strangest and most unexpected thing seen yet in this strange and unexpected city:

A helicopter. To be precise, a U.S. military OH-58D Kiowa search chopper, heading south in the general direction of Staten Island. The chopper is a good distance from the shore, but still barely visible. Characters will only be able to spot it if they’re up at this ungoldly hour and happen to be looking across the river, towards the west. Signaling at the helicopter or trying to grab its attention in any way doesn’t make it change its course.

OOC: In OOC news, app week is now officially open again! You have until Sunday, June 7th to send in your applications, so get to writing and send them on in! New and returning players: please remember that the application has been changed. Any new apps must be sent in using the new format, or they will not be considered.

You, keep your eyes on this corruption
You, keep your eyes on this confusion
Come on, yes you should watch this transformation

This is the second week of March, 2009

During Week 35...

This week is off rather shaky.

The third monster, formerly known as Andrew Basil, wakes up again around four in the morning on Sunday. As with the second, the first thing this third monster does is panic. It goes roaring and bellowing at top volume, and moves from the spot where it wakes up in a zig-zag path to the waterfront. It goes through Washington Square and the Tribeca area before finally disappearing into the water. The last signs seen of the monster are large ripples heading out towards Staten Island. The third monster shows no regard for anything in its path: homes, businesses and parks alike are all completely destroyed.

But because of the warnings from the people who encountered Andrew Basil and the decisions to act fast, the Manhattanites are very fortunate for this attack. The area surrounding the new monster is evacuated, and miraculously, no major injuries are sustained. Anyone still living in the Greenwich or Tribeca area will likely have to find new places to stay, however.

There's no telling when or if the third monster will make itself known again...

With this new information, crab bites have suddenly become a much graver threat to the population than previously known. That's bad news for Ziva David and Balthier, who are bitten this week. Bitten characters, feel free to check the Monster FAQ or contact a mod if you have any questions.

There are some light showers mid-week, but nothing major. The weather is cloudy but calm for the rest of the week.

THIS IS AN UNANNOUNCED EVENT

Late in the afternoon on Saturday, another crater suddenly appeared at the corner of 6th and Greenwich Ave, along with a quake that shook the area around for at least a mile.

Any characters that respond to this post and are in the vicinity of Greenwich and Sixth can suffer injuries (up to a six on the injury scale) as a result of the building collapse and quake.

Here is the injury scale )
